The risks associated with gastric sleeve surgery are generally far less than the risks associated with obesity and its related health conditions.

At The Sleeve Clinic, eligibility starts at a BMI of 30–35. While BMI is a primary indicator, we look at the whole person. If you are suffering from weight-related conditions — such as type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, or high blood pressure — surgery becomes an even more critical tool for your health.

Existing health conditions often make you a stronger candidate for surgery because the procedure is a powerful treatment for them. Gastric sleeve surgery frequently leads to the remission of Type 2 Diabetes, Sleep Apnea, High Blood Pressure & Cholesterol, Fatty Liver Disease, and Joint Pain. Many of our patients significantly reduce or eliminate their medications entirely.

Yes. While traditional guidelines often wait for a BMI of 35+, we know that a BMI of 30 can drastically impact your quality of life. Is there an age limit for gastric sleeve surgery?+
We typically treat patients between 18 and 65 years old. However, physiological health is more important than chronological age. If you are slightly outside this range but in good overall health, you may still be a candidate. We don't disqualify based on age alone.
